What You Get

A real obituary. Not a template.

Margaret Louise Henderson, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 14, 1942, and received her education at Columbus East High School and Ohio State University, class of 1963. She was the kind of student her teachers remembered long after she graduated.

Margaret dedicated 32 years to a career as an elementary school teacher with Jefferson County Schools, approaching her work with the kind of patience that made people glad they knew her. She was a proud veteran of every Parent-Teacher night from 1968 to 2000, which her colleagues considered its own form of service.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Henderson; her daughter Sarah Henderson Clark; her son Thomas Henderson; four grandchildren; and her brother William Kowalski of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ruth Kowalski.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.

Most people have never done this before.

Writing an obituary isn't something you practice. When the moment comes, you're grieving, you're exhausted, and someone is waiting on a deadline. Sincerely Departed was built for exactly that moment — guided enough to get you started, flexible enough to make it true.
